This is major news for True Blood fans. The new regular role on the HBO vampire series for next season went to veteran Irish theater actress and director Fiona Shaw who is probably best known in the U.S. for her role as Aunt Petunia in the Harry Potter movies. On True Blood, she will play Marnie, a mousy, timid and secretly self loathing storefront medium and palm reader who is taken over by the spirit of a powerful witch. The character was originally envisioned younger but is being adjusted for Shaw. Shaw is currently onstage at Dublin’s Abbey Theatre in a limited engagement of Henrik Ibsen’s John Gabriel Borkman opposite Alan Rickman and Lindsay Duncan. On U.S. television, she previosly co-starred on ABC’s limited series Empire.

In the video interview with Kristin Dos Santos from E!Online, Denis O’Hare who plays Russell Edgington the King of Mississippi on True Blood is providing some spoilers on the final two episodes, whether he’ll return as Russell next season and is kidding about the Rolling Stone cover…

Rolling Stone cover: “I got airbrushed out at some point,” Denis tells me of the Rolling Stone shoot, “because I was at Alexander [Skarsgård]‘s feet. I think I was crossing between Anna [Paquin] and Alexander, and there was a leash involved. It was a little racy. They kind of cut that.”

SPOILER ALERT!!!

Something big is going down with Russell in the True Blood Season Finale: “In episode 12, the final episode,” Denis teases, “I was encumbered with a lot of stuff, and it made the shooting process incredibly difficult. I had to do a lot of physical stunts. I love doing my own stunts, [but] it was a lot more than I thought I would do. And then I had a lot of makeup. The make-up was heavy-duty, two and a half hours in, two and a half hours out.”

Even Russell can be killed: “I am 3,000 years old, but it can be done…The vampire rules are if you behead them, if you stake them with wood, or if you put silver on them, they’re going down. The silver weakens them incredibly, the wood will actually kill them, and beheading is game over.”

There will be tears in the Season Finale: “Sookie gets mean and hurts me very deeply. Eric gets mean and hurts me very deeply. And even Pam gets a little mean to me, although she’s nice at one point, and hurts me very deeply. And I weep for joy at one point.”

Russell might not get what he wants: “I think Russell’s going to end up in a place where he didn’t expect,” Denis hints.

When asked how he feels that there is already talk of him winning an Emmy next season, Denis tells me, “On the one hand it feels good, because you feel like, ‘Oh, wow. People are paying attention.’ But on the other hand, I’m Irish and very superstitious. So, I’m just terrified that somehow I will mess things up! To me, and this is in all honesty, the joy of this was actually being able to work on it, to actually do it. I got to make new friends. I got to challenge myself. I got to play a role where I run around and be a vampire, which I haven’t done since I was 8 years old. Everything else is gravy.”

Then Denis pauses, looks straight into our camera, and says with a laugh, “Obviously, if you want to start a Facebook page, that’s totally fine with me. It would be lovely. I’m just going to live my life, gratefully, and happily, and humbly.”

SPOILER!!!! Nell’ultimo episodio di TB3 qualcosa di grosso accadrà a Russell: era ricoperto di molta roba e ciò ha reso difficile tutto il processo di filmazione della scena. Ha dovuto fare diverse cose acrobazie fisiche, lui ama fare da sè le roba da “stunt” ma ha dovuto fare molto di più di quanto si aspettasse. Aveva anche molto trucco di sopra e ci sono volute due ore e mezzo per metterlo e due ore e mezzo per toglierlo.

Anche Russell può essere ucciso: ha 3000 anni ma è possibile… le regole dei vampiri dicono che se vengono decapitati, impalettati o ricoperti di argento, i vampiri possono morire. L’argento li indebolisce incredibilmente, il legno può ucciderli e la decapitazione li manda letteralmente game over!

Had she seen that side back then, she, herself, would have been shocked.”
And that’s not the only thing that will shake Sookie up. “Toward the end of the season, she’s not really concerned about “Who am I going to pick?’ She’s more concerned about evading forces that want her for reasons I can’t disclose,” says Ball.

However, relationships on True Blood are going to be shaken up in upcoming weeks as Sookie will be splitting up with Bill in the face of a horrible breach of trust. Alan Ball commented on this break up, saying,

“[The breach of trust] will shake the very core of their relationship… Bill and Sookie’s love for each other is authentic and they want to make it work. But it might get harder and harder.”

Stephen Moyer also had something to say about the break up of Bill and Sookie, as well as regarding which man on True Blood might be best for Sookie:

“I can’t get into slinging matches about who’s better for Sookie because it’s just ridiculous. Bill is for Sookie, the love of her life.”

Of course, there’s more to the story than this. Stephen Moyer also hinted about a scene from the upcoming August 8th episode in which Bill is passionate and protective of not only Sookie, but also his progeny, the young vampire Jessica. The scene will take place on a moonless night, and throughout it, Bill is a vampire that you want on your side.

After this, there’s an escape from King Russell’s mansion that’s going to show us something entirely new, says Moyer.

“Sookie does something we haven’t seen her do yet for Bill. It being the roller-coaster ride that their relationship is, something happens immediately that makes things go awry.”

Of course, vampire Eric Northman will have many things to do for the remainder of the season as well. Though we recently heard Eric describe Sookie as meaning nothing to him, that’s not true. Alexander Skarsgard said that those actions are all part of a bigger plan on Eric’s part.

Underneath that plan, there are a lot of feelings that are going to affect True Blood in many ways, one of which is something that Eric fans have been wanting—a real romantic scene between Eric and Sookie that isn’t a fantasy sequence or a dream. Of course, the reaction to the scene could be different than what people expect it to be, which also leaves an opening for a romance between Sookie and Alcide. (After all, Alcide can have breakfast with Sookie in the mornings and is warm, unlike Bill and Eric…).
